Garfield, Tekoa levies fail by just a few votes

The 2015 General Election was certified Tuesday by Auditor Eunice Coker, Prosecutor Denis Tracy and County Commissioner Dean Kinzer. Three levies narrowly failed in the vote count.

The Tekoa proposition one, a $50,000 property tax levy for street operation and maintenance, failed by just a few votes, earning 58.6 percent yes votes to just miss the required 60 percent for passage.

Also in Tekoa, the park and recreation district maintenance and operation levy of $85,000 failed by just one vote after lingering near the 60 percent threshold in the second round of counting two weeks ago.
