Holiday “pop-up shop” will open in Pullman

Holiday sales have already started in many Whitman County areas, and shoppers will have a new local holiday shop available starting today. A holiday “pop-up shop” is planned on Main Street in Pullman today and for the next four Saturdays.

“It is a new idea for Pullman,” said Pullman Chamber Director Marie Dymkoski. “It is not a brand new idea. Other people have done it.”

The pop-up shop will feature several home-based businesses and crafters at a downtown shop in Pullman which has been closed and papered up for about the last year, Dymkoski said. She said gift wrapping will also be available at the shop as well as some Farmers Market vendors.

“It is just another way to bring some people downtown and have someone in the building,” Dymkoski said.

She added that the home-based businesses and crafters will benefit with the extra business and an added bonus could be for other downtown businesses to see extra traffic as well.

“It is a kick off to the holiday,” Dymkoski said. “And it will also kick off our new initiative, shop local Pullman.”

Dymkoski said they will debut the hashtag #shoplocalpullman at the holiday pop-up shop today to encourage more people to shop locally.

The shop will be open today from 4-7 p.m. and will be open for the next four Saturdays, Nov. 14, 21 and 28 from noon to 4 p.m. The final pop-up shop on Dec. 5 will run from 12-6 p.m.
