Port funding falls in place for Wilma railroad rehab

The Port of Whitman County has received a grant and loan approval to undertake a $1.5 million railroad project at the Port of Wilma.

The Freight Rail Assistance Program has awarded a $500,000 grant to fund part of the project to replace 1,200 railroad ties and upgrade crossings.

In addition to the grant, the Port received approval for a $500,000 loan from the Freight Rail Investment Bank which will have to be paid back over time.
