Help Needed! The 1948 Harley-Davidson bought new by the City in 1952 was recently put up for sale by the Mayor and Police Chief.

They wanted to use the money to buy another police car.

They said it had no historical value.

The sale of this motorcycle for that reason made a large group of people feel that it was necessary to work to save it from being lost forever.

There was a deadline made by the Police Chief for the sale.

The Whitman County Historical Society was contacted and wanted to buy it, but did not have the money.

A citizen bought the motorcycle with the idea to save it and sell it to the society once enough money was raised.

Some of the nearly $14,000 has been raised, but much more is needed.

Consider making a donation, which is tax deductible, to the Whitman County Historical Society, PO Box 67, with the donation being designated to the Harley-Davidson.

There have been some checks for $1000 and $500 given.

A donation of any amount would be extremely important in raising the total amount necessary.

It is an historic antique and the Historical Society knows the value of preserving and displaying this Harley-Davidson as part of the history of Colfax and Whitman County.
