Colfax: Farmers’ market moves downtown

Colfax Farmers’ Market will open May 29. The weekly market will be located on Spring Street adjacent to the Whitman County Library and run from 3 to 7 p.m.

Mike Rizzitiello, city administrator and vice president of the Colfax Downtown Association, said he is looking forward to the market season.

“Like Pullman or Moscow, it caters to the needs of the community,” he said. “It should be exciting. We have a wide variety of items available.”

Rizzitiello said the items available will include arts and crafts, paintings and an assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables. He encourages the community to come out and support the market.

Approximately 10 vendors have signed up to date, but Rizzitiello said that could change before the market opens next week. Also, vendors can continue to submit applications throughout the season and join the market at any point during the season.

The big change for the market this year is the move from Eells Park to a more centralized location in downtown Colfax. Rizzitiello hopes the more centralized location will help to generate more customers. The market will be open every Friday through Sept. 4.
