Bulldogs baseball tops Liberty twice

Colfax baseball team defeated Liberty 9-1 and 16-0 Tuesday in a cold doubleheader at Spangle to extend their season record to 4-0 in the NE league.

Garrett Burke allowed just three hits and struck out seven and walked just one for the win in the first game.

Colfax had seven hits. Kenton Lyman and Brody Yarnell had RBI hits in the three-run first inning, and Jeff Davies had a two-run rap in the second inning.

Andrew Becker had a two-run single in the last inning.

Liberty scored their lone run in the fourth.

Colfax started with three runs in the first inning off two walks and singles by Burke, Kenton Lyman and Yarnell.

In the second game, Danny Robinson threw a two hitter, struck out six Lancers and walked two in the 16-0 shutout.

The Bulldogs totaled 13 hits with Cal Gregory tagging four of them. Robinson had two hits and three RBIs in the game.

Colfax scored seven runs in the second inning and went over the 10-run margin with three more in the next frame.

Colfax will return to McDonald Park Friday and host the LRS Broncos in two games starting at 2 p.m.

In other league action, Davenport took two wins over Springdale, 15-3 and 15-5 with 13 Bronco hits in each of the five innings.

Wilbur Creston took two over Reardan 12-2 and 16-12.

Colfax jayvees defeated SJELWK 15-6 and 8-7. In the second game they scored the winning run in the bottom of the extra eighth inning. The Eagles out-hit with 10 raps in the second game.
