Bond set at $100,000

A $100,000 bond was set March 26 for pre-trial release of Cheryl A. Bynum who was sought on a bench warrant after she failed to appear last July for a pre-trial hearing. Bynum was booked in jail here late March 25. According to the booking information she had been residing in Rio Rancho, N.M. A deputy was dispatched to bring her to the jail here.

Bynum, 53, was listed as residing in Clarkston at the time of her arrest last year. She faces charges of felony hit and run, drunken driving and reckless driving.

According to the Pullman Police report, Bynum’s high speed driving on N. Grand in Pullman resulted in an accident in which a vehicle rolled off Turner Drive, knocked over a pole and caused a power outage.

The Pullman police report said Bynum was observed April 7, 2014, driving northbound on N. Grand in Pullman at speeds estimated in the 80 to 100 mph range. The hit-and-run victim was the driver of a southbound car who saw Bynum’s car approaching in the southbound lane. She told officers she stopped her car, and it was struck from behind by the car which was then diverted up Turner Drive and over the bank into the power pole.

Bynum, who did not collide with the two cars in the accident, was arrested later four miles north of Pullman off Highway 27, the report said.
