Santa slated for many stops

St. John

Santa will be arriving for an early visit to many communities this weekend.

Several events are set for the 22nd Annual St. John Winterfest, a St. John tradition, on Saturday and Sunday.

Santa Claus will listen carefully to young wishers at Primeland from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pictures will also be taken with the Jolly Old Elf.

From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. a poker walk will be held. Buy $5 game cards at Empire Foods and Moments Spa.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. a craft fair will be held at the fire station.

Vote for your Favorite Snowman decorated by St. John businesses in the Moments Spa from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Starting at 11 a.m., Brenda’s Homemade Soup will be sold at the fire station.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Secret Santa’s Workshop and gift wrapping with the M-Pact Girls from CLA Church, in the Creative Design Center.

Christmas Kids Crafts at the St. John Inn begins at 1 p.m. More than eight fun, easy crafts to make and take home will be available. This is free to all children.

Free S’Mores with Rangers from CLA Church next to the cafe will be available from 1 to 3 p.m.

Starting at 2 p.m., Bingo will be played at the Denton Building. This is not your Grandma’s Bingo. It is a surprise Bingo. Everything is wrapped just like Christmas morning. Only $1 per card.

The Golden Goose Egg Toss will be at Funky Junk at 3 p.m. Grab a buddy and see if you can win part of the goose’s loot. First place gets $25, second place wins $20 and third place gets $15. One egg per team.

The St. John Winterfest Parade starts at 4 p.m. with children lining up at 3:45 p.m. at Primeland and adult entries lining up at 4 p.m. at Funky Junk. Prizes, sponsored by St. John Telco, are $100 for first place and $50 for second place in both children and adults categories. The parade will go down the main street of St. John.

All Veterans are asked to join the opening of the Winterfest parade. Meet at Primeland at 4 p.m. For more information, call Angel Colyar.

St. John Hardware will have open seating on Saturday afternoon during the parade for all disabled and senior citizens.

St. John Community Club’s fireworks display over downtown will be Saturday evening.

On Sunday, Dec. 7, the St. John Community Club invites people to the 22nd annual Dinner and Benefit Auction. Cocktail hour and silent auction begins at 5 p.m. with the dinner served at 6 p.m. A live auction will follow dinner. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at Webb’s Empire Foods and St. John Pharmacy.

Endicott

Starting at 5 p.m. lighting of Christmas decorations will be done along with Japanese lanterns and fireworks, and then Santa arrives at the Endicott Community Club lot.

Refreshments and pictures with Santa will be at the Endicott Food Center.

LaCrosse

Santa will be in LaCrosse from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Old Saint Nick will arrive at the LaCrosse Market building. Children are invited to have pictures taken with the Jolly Old Elf. Children also are invited to make ornaments in the library which are provided by Friends of the LaCrosse Library. Refreshments will be served.

Visitors also are invited to the Route 26 Cafe.

Rosalia

Rosalia will have its annual Christmas Craft show and sale Saturday in the Community Building in Rosalia from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m

The Rosalia sale will be part of a Winter on the Palouse sale in conjunction with Rockford and Fairfield. Shoppers can obtain a passport at their first stop for a list of participants.

Rosalia Lions will sponsor a visit by Santa at the Budding Rose Gallery in Rosalia on Saturday.

Oakesdale

A tree lighting ceremony will be conducted across the street from Crossett’s Grocery on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 4:30 p.m. The ceremony is sponsored by the Oakesdale Historical Society and McCoy Valley Museum. During the ceremony there will be singing.

Hot cocoa, hot cider and cookies will be served at the museum after the ceremony.
