At least 14 people were known to have participated in a Washington Great ShakeOut earthquake drill Thursday morning in Colfax.

The state drill was officially set for 10:16 a.m.

Thursday which was Oct. 16.

The 14 people who took part in the drill “live” were present for a meeting of the local Emergency Planning Committee in the Public Service Building.

The drill called for participants to Drop, Cover and Hold On.

Attendees at the meeting, including Commissioner Dean Kinzer, shown here, responded to the drill by getting under tables in the auditorium of the Public Service Building.

Other public entities around the county were advised of the drill and encouraged to participate, and the county’s Emergency Management Office got a report that some staff members at Pullman Regional Hospital took part in the statewide drill.
