Fire bans still in effect

The State Department of Natural Resources Sept. 25 issued a report that it had rescinded the statewide burning ban on DNR protected lands in the state. Recent rainfall and moderating temperatures led to the decision.

The DNR action does not affect restrictions by local authorities, and fire bans are still in place in all county parks.

More precipitation will be required here, and the department will review long-range forecasts before lifting the bans in the parks.

A fire ban is also in place along the Snake River and in Wawawai Canyon until Oct. 10. That ban includes Wawawai Park.
