Campaign contributions

Public Disclosure Commission listings for Whitman County candidates show three of the four candidates in the two contested races opted to comply with the mini reporting option in which they pledged not to spend more the $5,000 on their campaigns after paying the filing fee and will not accept more than $500 from any one contributor.

Jim Hawkes, the staff appraiser who is challenging incumbent Joe Reynolds for the assessors job, opted to take the full reporting option. Hawkes to date has reported $7,915 in campaign contributions and $4,238 in expenditures.
