Palouse fire truck returns to action in parade

A 1928 Reo fire truck was back in service on Saturday in the Palouse Days parade.

Owned by the Palouse Lions Club since the 1970s, the truck was restored to working order in the weeks leading up to the town’s annual street festival.

Once a staple of parades in Whitman County – including when the Palouse Empire Fair still had a parade – the old truck has been in storage since 1996, when the Palouse flood put it under five feet of water.

At the time, Lions Club members had been working on restoring it.

After the flood, members drained it and removed all the fluids.
