Auction list grows for benefit

Approximately 100 items have been donated for the silent and live auctions arranged as a benefit for Konnor Stirling, 12-year-old son of Tom and Janel Stirling of Colfax. Konnor has been diagnosed with leukemia and now undergoes chemotherapy treatment in Spokane, usually five days a week.

The auction will be part of a barbecue dinner which will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Colfax Golf Club next Friday, Aug. 8.

Tickets for the dinner will be $5 per person or $25 for a family.

The live auction, with Butch Booker as auctioneer, will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m., according to Frances Logan, a neighbor of the Stirlings who has acted as president of the Stirling Strong group.

The group, which participated in Relay for Life, was organized to support Konnor and his family.

Some of the items up for bid will be WSU memorabilia from coaches and Jason Gesser, a Rob Smith original painting, one half of a pig, a Hell’s Canyon River Excursion, photo packages, a Silverwood trip, sport tickets from WSU, Gonzaga and the Spokane Indians, a load of gravel, a guided fishing trip and get-away trips.

Members of Stirling Strong have also been selling bracelets with the proceeds going to pay fuel funds for the commutes each day to Spokane for Konner to undergo the chemotherapy treatments.

He has been slated to continue the treatments up until the end of the year when doctors will assess the results, according to Logan.
