Whitman Hospital receives third Top 20 rating in nation

Whitman Hospital & Medical Center in Colfax was recently named one of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals by the National Rural Health Association. The hospital also was named a Best Practice Hospital for Patient Satisfaction.

“Whitman Hospital is proud of the efforts of its physicians and staff who have contributed to our hospital achieving this designation,” said Interim CEO Gary Peck.

This is the third time Whitman Hospital has received this recognition.

The ratings were based on the Hospital Strength Index which was created to bring clarity and insight to hospital performance. The Index is the first-ever comprehensive rating system to compare all general acute-care hospitals.

Besides Whitman Hospital, Kittitas Valley Healthcare in Ellensburg was the only other Critical Access Hospital in Washington to be named in the top 20. Whitman Hospital is the only hospital in Washington to receive the Best Practice designation.

The 100 Top Critical Access Hospitals are profiled in the Hospital Strength Index study. Whitman Hospital & Medical Center was named in the top 100.

The National Rural Health Association names the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals based on the Hospital Strength Index, the first nationwide hospital rating system. The Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals are those that received the highest composite score among ten areas in the study.
