Nitrogen gas attack nets 69 months in prison

Jacob P. Forster, 32, who was charged with attempted murder after his wife reported a year ago he had placed a cardboard box over her head to inject nitrogen through a hose while she was sleeping, was sentenced to more than 69 months in jail Tuesday afternoon in superior court.

Judge David Frazier pronounced the sentence which was jointly recommended by Prosecutor Denis Tracy and Defense Attorney Carl Oreskovich of Spokane on a plea bargain agreement.

Forster pleaded guilty to an amended charge of attempted first degree assault.
