NOTICE OF HEARING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Whitman County Commissioners will conduct a public hearing on Monday, December 30, 2013, at 11:30 a.m.

in the Whitman County Commissioners’ Chambers, Courthouse, Colfax, Washington.

The purpose of the hearing is to consider proposed amendments to Whitman County Code, Title 3, Chapter 3.50, Enhanced 911 Emergency Telephone System.

The proposed revisions would impose an excise tax on the use of each radio access line by consumers whose retail transaction occurs within Whitman County as authorized by Chapter 8, Laws of Washington 2013 2nd Special Session and as defined by RCW 82.14B.020.

The amount of the tax shall be 70 cents per retail transaction as defined by RCW 82.14B.020.

Arrangements will be made to accommodate questions and provide responses to non-English speaking residents. The Whitman Conservation District adopted Resolution #5 at their December 20, 2013 special board meeting in order to hold an election for a board position on the Whitman Conservation District Board.

The election will be held on February 11, 2014 at the Grillbilly Café, 204 S Main St, LaCrosse, WA 99143.

Polls open at 5pm and close 8pm.

Registered voters who reside within the Whitman Conservation District boundary are eligible to vote.

Candidates must be registered to vote residing in the conservation district and may be required to own land or operate a farm.

The candidate filing deadline is January 14, 2014.

Election procedures are available at the district office.

Absentee ballots are available upon request for eligible voters, but must be requested on or before February 4, 2014 and returned to District office by February 7, 2014.

Supervisors serve without compensation but are eligible to be reimbursed for appropriate expenses.

The Board of Supervisors provides guidance and direction, as well as set policy for the Conservation District.
