Five hurt in collision

Five people were transported to hospitals from the scene of a three-car accident on Highway 195 at the Horn School rest stop Thursday night, Dec. 12.

Rosalinda Schluneger, 69, and Ed Schluneger, 78, both Colfax, were transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.

Stewart F. Mackey, 57, and Katherine Mackey, 54, both Orofino, were transported to Whitman Hospital here, and Laurence C. Downing, 23, Spangle, was transported to the hospital here.

According to the Washington State Patrol report, Rosalinda Schluneger was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala southbound at 9:25 p.m. on the slush covered highway when it went out of control and crossed the centerline. It collided with a 2014 Jeep Compass being driven north by Stewart Mackey. The Impala came to a stop broadside in the roadway and was struck by a 1999 Mercury being driven northbound by Downing.
