Sam Pambrun, pictured, will portray his great-grandfather Andrew Dominique at the Whitman County Historical Society’s annual meeting on Sunday, Oct. 27, in the Jones School House at the Palouse Empire Fairground.

Pambrun’s portayal is part of the ‘The Settlement of the Palouse Prairie’ presented by re-enactors Pambrun and Steve Plucker.

Andrew Dominique had a farm on the Walla Walla river in 1858.

He often scouted for the U.S. Army but since the citizens of Oregon City tried to hang him as an obstructionist to Indian Policy, he was excluded from participating in the Wright Campaign.

However, Col.

George Wright marched over the Pambrun farm in July 1858.

Sam Pambrun is a retired educator and currently president of the Frenchtown Historic Foundation.

He also served as chairman of the Oregon Historic Trails Funding Foundation Advisory Committee.

Re-enactor Steve Plucker will portray his great-grandfather Charles Plucker, who was a private in the 9th U.S. Army Infantry at the time of the Palouse Prairie Indian Wars.

Pvt.

Plucker was stationed at Fort Simcoe.

He was involved in the western attack force under the command of Major Robert Garnett.

Steve has written an informative article about Fort Walla Walla.
