Port to upgrade pilots’ lounge

Port of Whitman County commissioners June 20 approved spending $7,500 to upgrade the pilots’ lounge at the Port of Whitman Business Air Center.

Debbie Snell, port properties and development manager, said the improvements will be in the lounge and kitchen areas.

New sheet rock and lighting will be included in the improvements, Snell said. The upgrade is being done to get ready for a fly-in this fall, she said.

Commissioners also approved spending approximately $6,000 in updating the port’s web site through a company called Rocket Gui. The new site will launch in September.

A draft for advertising for a new concessionaire for Boyer Park and Marina was sent to commissioners for approval, Snell said. The port is in the process of hiring a concessionaire to replace Dave Peterson who plans to retire after the current season.

The port hopes to begin advertising in early July, Snell said.
