Johnson Fourth starts with breakfast

Johnson will again mark its five hours of Independence Day fame with a breakfast offering at the community building and the free form Johnson Parade, billed as the most unique for area holiday celebrants.

One change this year will be new breakfast crew. Johnson Grange members have handed over the grill duties to volunteers of Fire District 12. The district will pay a rental fee to pay for upkeep of the building, and other breakfast proceeds will be used to meet fire district needs. The ham and eggs breakfast, including cinnamon rolls, will be served for $8. Serving will be from 7 to 10 a.m. when the parade begins.

Again this year, parade organizers are asking participants to refrain from the use of water guns and balloons. The ban was sought last year because water battles were disrupting the parade which runs for the length of Johnson, turns, and runs back the length of Johnson.
