Extra DUI patrols slated for July 4-5

Extra patrols for drunken drivers will be July 4-5 with the aim of taking impaired drivers off the roadway. The patrols will be funded by a grant from Washington Traffic Safety Commission and supported by the Spokane County Target Zero Task Force.

Whitman County deputies, WSP troopers, Pullman and Colfax police departments will have extra emphasis patrols.

Fourteen summertime traffic deaths have been logged in Whitman County from 2007-2012. They resulted from accidents investigated between 6 p.m. on Friday of Memorial Day weekend and 5:59 a.m. on the Tuesday after Labor Day.
