Asotin man booked on attempt to elude charges

Aaron R. Jones, 41, Asotin, was booked into the county jail here on charges of attempting to elude an officer on the River Road. He was arrested after he stopped near the Red Wolf Bridge intersection with the River Road.

Deputy Robert Goldsby's arrest report said he was driving westbound on patrol along the road when a vehicle driven by the suspect approached from behind at a high rate of speed and passed him on the left. He said the driver failed to pull over when he turned on the arrest lights and a pursuit followed with speeds ranging up to between 80 and 85 miles per hour.

The vehicle later slowed down and drove along the shoulder of the road.

It eventually stopped near the bridge crossing where Asotin County and Clarkston City police units were stationed.

The arrest report said the suspect became argumentative at the arrest scene and later underwent blood alcohol content tests at the jail here with the results exceeding the state drunk driving intoxication level.
