After a tough run in the first edition of the Pullman summer series over the weekend, Pullman Patriots returned to McDonald Field in Colfax to renew league play in the Spokane Senior Legion League with the Spokane Northstars at McDonald Park in Colfax.
The Northstars took both games with a last inning 6-5 win in the opener and a 10-5 verdict in the closer.
They took the opener by scoring two runs to take the lead in the top of the seventh inning and then holding off a Patriots rally in the bottom of the seventh.
Pullman sustained the loss in the opener after rapping 10 hits against the visitors. Bricyn Abdul and Justin Cillay each had two hits with a double in the opener, and Matt Peterson had another two hits.
Patrick Jacobs had the start on the mound, and Hunter Redinger relieved him in the fifth inning.
Pullman had three errors in the opener.
Northstar offense kept up their offense going for the 10-5 win in the second game with 11 hits. The score locked at 3-3 after three innings, but the guests scored two in the top of the fourth to take the lead. They capped it with four runs in the top of the last inning.
Cillay started on the mound for the Patriots in the second game, and Brady Ellis relief him in the third inning.
The Patriots booked six hits with Peterson bagging a pair of doubles. Abdul also tagged a double, and Redinger, Ellis and Will Dedic had the other hits. The Patriots are now 2-4 in the league.
Saturday, the Patriots were shutout 9-0 by the Seattle Titans to end their bid in the first Summer series session. The Seattle club scored eight of their runs in the third inning.
Micah Pittsley and Austin Meyer pitched for the Patriots. The Titans finished with seven hits.
Matt Peterson, Will Dedic and Nolan Johnson had hits for the Pats in their series closer.
Thursday the Patriots dropped two series games. They were nipped 4-3 by the SBC Grinders in their series opener at Bailey Brayton in Pullman.
The Grinders scored two runs in the top of the seventh to bump a 3-2 Pats lead which was stacked with one run each in the first three innings.
Patrick Jacobs of Colfax allowed six hits in taking the loss.
Jeremy Druffel and Matt Peterson each had two hits with a double to top the eight hits for the Patriots.
After the close loss, the Pats fell 12-1 to Steelhead in the second round The Steelies booked 19 hits off the Pullman pitchers.
