Garfield school honors medic

Former Army Special Operations/Green Beret medic Bill Harmeyer, Jr. met with Garfield Middle School students in John Gehring’s social studies classroom. Harmeyer spoke at the school’s Veteran’s Day assembly last November and was invited back to the school as they presented him with a Quilt of Valor made by Marilee Sherwood, an aide at the school. Quilts of Valor is a national program in which individuals or groups make and present quilts to military veterans.
