Colton High sports wins Scholastic Cup

St. John-Endicott H.S.

finishes second in statewide honor

Colton High School is the recipient of the 2013 1B WIAA/Washington Army National Guard Scholastic Cup.

St. John-Endicott finished second while Tekoa-Oakesdale took ninth.

The Scholastic Cup recognizes performance in the classroom as well as on the playing surface. Schools that finish at the top of their respective classifications in state athletic competition receive points, as do schools that finish at the top in team academic performance.

Sportsmanship is also a factor, with substantial points deducted for ejections from contests. At the end of the year, the school with the most points in their classification will be awarded the Scholastic Cup.

Top 5 1B finishes are as follows: 1. Colton (885 points), 2. St. John-Endicott (695 points), 3. Almira-Coulee-Hartline (625), 4. Harrington (590), 5. Mount Rainier Lutheran (535).

Colton highlighted the year with their fifth straight girls basketball and softball state championships.
