Ag pilot Brian Windsor gets in close to the real estate spraying for wheat rust. Annual applications of chemical to combat the fungus have started. Wheat rust affects all types and varieties of wheat, even new ones. The rust likes wet and cool weather. Crop loss can run up to $160 an acre according to Bill Myers. Wheat should be treated in time to protect the flag leaf which is the leaf that comes out right before heading, according to CJ Young, Wilbur Ellis sales representative....
