LaCrosse students get 1895 lesson

LaCrosse students practice cursive writing in the manner of 1895 at the Jones School House May 24 at the Palouse Empire Fairgrounds. Kathy Meyer taught the Palmer method of cursive writing to LaCrosse third through sixth-graders. Dan Leonard, a Whitman County Historical Society board member, observes in the background. The Jones School was moved from Dusty to the fairground site in 2010. The program was an extension of the 1895 classes put on at the Palouse Empire Fair.“This is further development of that. If it serves a purpose, we would like to expand it,” Leonard said. He said the historical society plans to bring students in for the classes in the fall and spring each year.
