Weitman benefit

set for Saturday

A benefit for John (Glen) Weitman, who has worked at Taco Time for 20 years, will be Saturday, April 6, at the Colfax Eagles banquet room. The benefit includes a spaghetti feed from 5 to 7 p.m. at $5 per person.

A silent auction will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Weitman’s daughter, Amy, said more than 70 donations for the silent auction have been made to date, and they are still accepting more.

Weitman and his wife, Lin, have four children, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Weitman was diagnosed with stage four liver cancer last November.

Pie social set

at Albion center

Guy-Albion Historical Society pie social will be Saturday, April 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Albion Community Center. Entertainment will be provided by “Loose on the Palouse Fiddlers,” who are members of the larger Old Time Fiddlers group.

Pie prices are $2 and $2.50 with ice cream 50 cents and beverages free.

‘Pied Piper’ at Rosalia

The Missoula Children’s Theatre is working with Rosalia students next week to present The Pied Piper next Saturday, April 13. Shows will be at 3 and 5:30 p.m. located at the Rosalia School Gymnasium. Admission will be adults $8, students $6, age 5 and under, free. Family Pass per show will be $20.

Palouse Harmony

set for Clarkston

“Celebrate Harmony...Still Ringing Those Chords!” presents a program of barbershop style a cappella music by the Palouse Harmony Chorus and friends at 2 and 7 p.m., Saturday, April 20, at Clarkston High School Performing Arts Auditorium in Clarkston.

This year marks Barbershop Harmony Society’s 75th anniversary, with songs spanning more than the 75 years the Harmony Society has existed. All featured groups are from the Inland Empire region. The Clarkston High School Jazz Choir will join the program at the 2 p.m. show.

slated for seventh

art-crafts day

The seventh annual art and crafts demonstration day at Dahmen Barn in Uniontown will feature artisans who work with natural materials. This year’s event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 13, and is free to the public.

Artisans at the Dahmen Barn began the annual demonstration event the spring of 2007, a few months after its grand opening, to bring many artists together who work with the same materials. Each year has had a different theme: fiber, wood, glass, clay, paper, recycled materials.

Work of resident artists and visiting artists will be featured.

Okumura art

Hiromi Okumura will exhibit abstracts and have a short performance during the opening reception at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn. The opening reception will be Sunday, April 7, from 1 to 3 p.m. and the exhibit continues through April 28 during regular open hours.

Hiromi now lives in Pullman and currently teaches fine arts at Washington State University. Her paintings are bright, bold and very energetic.

Patchin’ People

Patchin’ People Quilt Guild of Pullman will meet Monday, April 8, at 1:30 p.m., 1015 NE Orchard Drive, Pullman. This meeting will include a “tag sale” of quilters’ items, fabrics, patterns, etc., and is a good way to stock up. All who enjoy quilting and the fiber arts are welcome to attend.

Brist, Alice Elizabeth, born March 23, at eight pounds, four ounces, first child to Erik and Sarah Brist of Moscow. Paternal grandparents are Larry Brist and Mariethe Staal of Kennewick. Maternal grandparents are Scott and Taiya Anderson of Pasco.

Estrada, Jair Josiah, born March 23, at six pounds, eight ounces, to Josue and Amanda Estrada of Pullman. Paternal grandparent is Celia Estrada of Prosser. Maternal grandparents are Roger and Lisa Guzmin of Yakima. The baby joins brother Josue, 3.
