Notice of Election

Whitman Conservation District Board Supervisor

The purpose of this Election is to elect a Supervisor to the Whitman Conservation District Board for a three-year term.

The eligibility requirement of those interested in becoming a Supervisor is to be an eligible elector, defined as 1) a registered voter in Whitman County, 2) residing within the District boundary, and is 3) a landowner within the District boundary.

The Conservation District Supervisor is a public official who serves without compensation while setting policy and direction for the District, and providing guidance and oversight on activities and projects. There is one monthly board meeting to attend with the possibilities of additional conservation-related meetings throughout the year. Please feel free to call Pam Furchtenicht, District Coordinator (397-4636, ext 120) with any additional questions regarding the position.

The published election procedures can be viewed at the District Office and are available from the Washington State Conservation Commission. Candidate filing deadline is Tuesday January 8, 2013 at 4:00pm.

TAKE NOTICE:

That on February 27, 2012, M&I Livestock applied to transfer a portion of the above referenced Claim into the State Trust Water Right Program.

That said Claim asserts the diversion of an annual quantity of 192 acre-feet at a rate of 0.96 cubic feet per second from the Tucannon River from a point located within the SE 1/4 of Sec. 2, T. 11N., R. 39 E., Columbia County, Washington.

That said water is claimed for the purpose of irrigation for lands within the: E1/2 SENW, W1/2 SWNE, W1/2 NWSE, NW1/4 SWSE, and the E1/2 NESW all in Sec. 2, of T. 11 N., R. 39 E.W.M., Columbia County, Washington.

That said applicant proposes to transfer in perpetuity, 29.40 acre-feet per year at the rate of 0.713 cubic feet per second to the State Trust Water Right Program, to be used for instream flows.
