Fate of CETC? Call for bids strikes out

After fielding some inquiries from potential buyers, the county Monday wound up with no bids for the purchase of the Community Education and Training Center, formerly the Elks Lodge, during the Whitman County Commissioners meeting on Monday. The county had set Monday to open sealed bids on the structure at Main and Wall streets in downtown Colfax. Minimum bid was set at $60,000.

Bob Reynolds, County facilities manager, said he was surprised about the lack of bids because he had four or five recent inquiries about the building and also had several inquiries over the years.
