Pullman driver rescued from Palouse River

Chang Liu, 23, Pullman, was rescued from the N. Fork of the Palouse River early Monday morning after she drove a car through the fence next to the Busch Distributors self service plaza on the Walla Walla Highway. The car, a 2007 Mazda, landed on its roof in the river channel. Liu was able to climb out of the overturned Mazda and called out for help. She reported she had been in the channel more than an hour attempting to summon help.

Colfax fire station received the alarm at 2:32 a.m. and went to the scene.
