Palouse panel to review chicken ordinance

After receiving an increase in chicken noise complaints this year, Palouse City council and the planning commission are considering possible changes to the city’s ordinances.

In the open forum for the city council meeting Aug. 28, Shelley and Darrel Goertzen spoke on behalf of 4H members who reside in Palouse.

They pointed out that there is a difference in laying hens and asked the council not listen to what Shelley termed “one disgruntled neighbor. A neighbor who wasn’t disgruntled for the year and a half he got free eggs from us.”
