Cutting torch suspect faces W.C. charges

Dustin C. Mattson, 41, Moscow, was identified Thursday, Aug. 9, as the suspect in a two-week-old case in which farmers reported farm implements were cut up and hauled away, presumably for scrap iron value. A report Wednesday, Aug. 8, by Sgt. Keith Cooper said Mattson admitted involvement in two thefts in eastern Whitman County and also another reported theft along Estes Road in Latah County.

Farmers discovered field equipment had been cut apart and then later hauled away. Mattson is expected to face charges in Whitman County of theft, trespassing and malicious mischief, Cooper reported.
