Washtucna auto show offers attractions

Washtucna again will offer many attractions Saturday when the seventh edition of the Classic Auto Show rolls onto the school playing field. Organizer Bill Plumb said the show normally attracts 80 entrants with cars, trucks motorcycles and other vehicles.

This year’s show will include entrants who are coming from Everett and Walla Walla to join the area car fans.

Feature events will start with breakfast served by the Volunteer Firefighters starting at 7 a.m. Car show registration will begin at 8 a.m. and the actual show on the field will be from 10 to 3:30.

One of the feature attractions will be the Pak Rat drag racer which will be displayed by Louie Allert, former Washtucna resident who now resides at Coeur d’Alene. The Pak Rat, a 1968 Camaro, can book 160 mph on a quarter mile course.

The show will also feature a Civil War Artillery Demonstration by Keystone Battery A and First Michigan Light Artillery. The demo blast has received official permission from school and city officials

Plumb noted the Civil War event was booked by members of the Ritzville car club who assist in producing the auto show.

Vendor and crafts sales, drawings by Western cartoonist Jim Lisk of Ritzville, and door prizes will be other attractions.
