Like many people, Nelson Duran did not figure out what he really wanted to do immediately after high school. He came to the United States 25 years ago with a scholarship to study agriculture.

Nelson’s parents were born in Spain and moved to Cedar, Honduras, where he was born. They left the small town and moved to the capital city, Tegucigulpa, when he was six years old. Each parent owned a businesses They eventually separated.

When Nelson came to the Northwest in 1987, he enrolled in an intensive English language course at Lewis-Clark State College. He was immediately enamored with his teacher...
