WSU, UI graduations bring guests to Dusty

Dusty

Gary and Marit Stueckle, Anna Stueckle, Daniel Stueckle and Daniel’s girlfriend, Lauren Armstrong, visited Colfax and Dusty May 5 from their homes in the Seattle area. They enjoyed time visiting and catching up with Gary’s sisters, Goldie Foss and Gloria Erickson in Colfax and also enjoyed a meal provided by Goldie and Al Foss. Anna, Daniel and Lauren took a side trip to the family (Gottlieb Stueckle) farm just south of Dusty.

Linda Hennigar was in the Tri-Cities last week to attend grandson Wesley’s school band concert but he became ill so they cancelled those plans. She did visit with cousin Elaine and Dave Hogan in Richland.

Art and Colene Sager attended the Tri-State convention for the Flying Farmers in Pendleton Thursday to Saturday. The group toured the Pendleton Woolen Mills, the Indian Museum and the Underground Pendleton. The tunnels were originally constructed so merchants could get their supplies from the railroad station to their stores without being robbed.

Later, Chinese railroad workers lived in the tunnels for their safety.

The tunnels later served as a site for speakeasies during prohibition.

Rich Shattenberg, missionary to Madagascar, was special speaker at the Country Bible Church Sunday morning.

Friday evening, Karen Broeckel joined Cliff and Jeanette Nolan, Mark and Carol Rubin, Jason and Andrew Nolan, Jay, Kathy and Bryan Rubin and Jared Ledbetter in celebrating a milestone birthday of Gwen Nolan at the Sol Vallarta Restaurant in Colfax.
