Jamison, Johnson top Viking class

Heidi Jamison, daughter of Russell and Sandra Jamison of Garfield, has been named valedictorian of the 2012 class of Garfield/Palouse High School, and Melissa Lorraine Johnson, daughter of Everett “Clark” and Lorraine Johnson, has been named salutatorian.

Jamison, who earned a 3.982 cumulative grade point, served as president and held other offices in the Viking FFA chapter and earned the state FFA degree.

She is a member of the National Honor Society and competed on Viking volleyball, basketball, softball and Knowledge Bowl teams.

She served as Garfield Junior Miss and queen and participated in Relay for Life, Meals on Wheels and the Peace Lutheran Church Youth Group.

She plans to attend the University of Idaho and study soil and land resources.

Johnson, who earned a 3.92 grade average, was a Viking football cheerleader and competed on volleyball, basketball and track teams. She was a member and officer in FFA and FCCLA and a member of the National Honor Society. She plans to study veterinary science and business at a four-year university.
