Garden ready for planting

Lacrosse

The LaCrosse Thrift Shop & Food Bank, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, now have their Community Garden site plowed thanks to Lynn Bruce. Gerald Wise has donated his land for the garden.

Wayne Miller, food bank manager, needs some help to get it planted and maintained. He is also looking for an assistant manager for the Food Bank.

The group will once again serve breakfast for the Farmers’ Festival.

Thrift Shop hours are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 10 to 4 and the second Tuesday of the month, also from 10 to 4 to coincide with the Food Bank Pantry Day. The student of character assembly was May 9 in the LHS school pit.

Student of character winners for April were as follows:

Kindergarten - 75%: Julia Guske, Landen Miller and McKenzie Stanley.

Mac I – 100%: Abree Aune, Alex Binks, Tanner Fleming, Lillian McGregor, Alex Osorio, Austin Stanley, Edyn Roberts, Mackenzie Roberts, Wyatt Schwartz and Emily Wrigh.

Mac II – 100%: Gunnar Aune, Zoe Bailey, Sydney Berquist, Dustin Broeckel, Carlos Candelario, Matea Enzweiler, Trey Fleming, Ty Harder, MacKenna Hardy, Austin Jones, Genevieve McGregor, Angel Osorio and Lauren Stubbs.

Fifth Grade – 100% Nicolas Candelario, Alynn Harder, Blake Jones, Hally Lindgren, Autumn Meyers and Logan Stanley.

Sixth Grade – 88% Caleb Berquist, Felix Candelario, Leighton Dorman, Jadyn Guske, Braden Miller and Mashayla Miller-Morris.

Seventh Grade-67% Kaleb Ellis and Terrell Webb.

Eighth Grade – 50% Ashtyn Aune, Jessica Guske, Madison Harder and Weston Miller.

Freshman – 50% Jacob Johnson, Lura Potter and Jason Wigen.

Sophomores – 60% Graham BeDell, Brandon Bennett, Haley Dorman, Joey Guske, Lindsey Miller and Kadie Whinery.

Juniors – 50% Alec Fleming, Lane Hannas, Chelsie Kneale, Anna Roberts, Shayla Sisk, Matt Stubbs, Austin Summers, Justin Wargo and Jed Zimmer.

Seniors – 80% Jake Aune, Anne Fleming, Caleb Hannas, and Brea Tackett.

The character trait for May is Wisdom. A video interview of different people’s opinions about staff members concluded the assembly. Students in the first seven grades assembled in the elementary reading room Friday to receive their Justice tokens. The fifth graders performed a short skit about using wisdom to make choices.
