Post Falls duo charged

Two Post Falls residents were arrested early Friday morning after they had stopped at a rural residence on the Pine City-Malden Road.

The suspects were identified as John D. Clark, 39, and Lisa M. Martin, 33.

According to the report of Sgt. Keith Cooper, they were arrested in a black Honda which had been backed onto a grass area near the driveway of the residence.

Deputies responded after they received a call from occupants of the residence who did not respond when one of the suspects knocked on the door. Deputies received a call at 12:46 a.m.

The occupants of the house reported Martin came to the front door of the residence and knocked, but they did not respond. They said she went back to the vehicle and after a short period of time Clark exited the vehicle and began walking around an outbuilding. He then started to run back to the vehicle when he saw lights of the approaching cars of the deputies.

Deputies said they located a loaded handgun, burglary tools and drug paraphernalia during a search of the vehicle.

Both the suspects were charged with attempted second degree burglary and possession of burglary tools. Martin was also charged with possession of a loaded firearm, a .25 caliber pistol, deputies allege was in the car.

The two suspects that night said they had decided to go on a drive from Northern Quest Casino at Airway Heights and ran out of gas.

Officers also learned three warrants were outstanding for Clark in Spokane County.

Bond for pre-trial release was set at $2,500 for Clark in a first appearance in court Friday. Martin was allowed pre-trial release on her own recognizance. Both were ordered to return to court for arraignment Friday.
