Tolan back in jail on federal charges

Anthony Tolan, 34, Colfax resident who was released Friday after six months in jail, was returned to jail Monday after being arrested on a federal warrant. Colfax Chief Bill Hickman said Tolan has been charged in U.S. District Court in Spokane with being a felon in possession of stolen firearms and being in possession of stolen firearms. Charges were filed against him in federal court Feb. 22.

Tolan was returned to the jail after his arrest Monday, and federal ATF agents were expected to pick him up Tuesday and transfer him to jail in Spokane for an appearance in federal district court there.

Tolan Friday was sentenced to eight months after pleading guilty to a reduced charge related to the theft of tools from Colfax Body Shop. He was allowed release because he was credited with time already served awaiting trial in jail and with good time.
