Hagan earns certification

Cynthia Hagan, a member of the 1995 class at Tekoa High School, has been recognized by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards after earning national board certification in the area of English as a new language. Hagan is now on the faculty at Sunset Elementary, one of four elementary schools in the Cheney School District.

Hagan received her teaching degree from Eastern Washington University in 2000 and taught at a private academy in Las Vegas. She earned a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Phoenix in Las Vegas and an endorsement from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas in Teaching English as a Second Language. She later taught in the Clark County School District in Las Vegas. In 2005 she moved back to the Northwest and taught for two years at Lakeside Middle School.

She is the daughter of Larry and Peggy Hagan of Tekoa.
