LAX parks said lax in reporting

LaCrosse Park and Recreation District was cited by the Washington State Auditor’s office this week for failing to submit financial statments for three straight years.

The report, issued Monday, said financial records for the district have not been submitted since 2007. The audit report’s statement said because the state received no statement, it could not audit the small taxing district’s activity to ensure compliance with state fiscal laws.

Auditors advised the district allocate attention and resources to completing financial statements to ensure acccuracy and compliance.

The district’s $35,000 maintenance and operation was passed this week by LaCrosse voters with 75 percent approval.
