Commissioners ponder possible dissolution of SEWEDA

Whitman County commissioners Tuesday discussed a possible dissolution of the Southeast Washington Economic Development Association, or SEWEDA.

SEWEDA is the economic recruiting agency set up to serve Whitman, Asotin, Columbia and Garfield counties.

Commissioner Pat O’Neill, who serves on SEWEDA’s board of directors, said Columbia County is planning to leave the organization to join its economic development efforts with groups in Walla Walla or northeast Oregon.

“That makes sense for them,” said Commissioner Michael Largent.
