County's '11 class down 20

Another wave of Whitman County high school seniors will toss their caps high for graduation this year. A total of 323 Whitman County seniors will graduate this year with Pullman accounting for 153.

The county totaled 343 graduates last year and 314 in 2009.

Graduation days for Pullman, Palouse, Colfax, Colton and Tekoa all fall on Saturday, June 4.

St. John/Endicott will have 26 seniors graduating this year, two less than last year and the ceremony will be June 5 at 2 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.

“Not only are they good citizens, they are strong leaders. They’ve helped the school atmosphere be ideal,” said St. John/Endicott Superintendent Rick Winters of this class of graduating seniors. Most of the graduates have plans for college. He added many of them received local scholarships for college- possibly the highest number of dollars given out by the school to date.

“Their future is bright. These kids are going on to do great things,” Winters said.

There are 28 graduating seniors for Palouse, three less than last year. The ceremony June 4 will be at 1 p.m. at the high school gymnasium.

Colfax has 44 graduating seniors this year, 12 less than last year, and the graduation event June 4 is at 1 p.m. at the high school gymnasium.

Colton will have 12 seniors graduating this year. The count is seven less than last year. Colton’s ceremony is Saturday at noon in the high school gymnasium.

Rosalia has 21 graduating seniors, seven more than last year, and the event will be June 3 at 4 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.

LaCrosse will graduate nine seniors this year, three less than last year, June 11 at 11 a.m. in the high school gymnasium.

Oakesdale has 10 graduating seniors this year, one more than last year, and the event will be June 5 at 1 p.m.

There are 20 seniors graduating from Tekoa this year, 10 more than last year. The event is June 4 at 1 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.

Pullman has 153 graduating seniors, 11 less than last year. Pullman’s ceremony is June 4 at 5 p.m. in Beasely Coliseum.
