Steigers make trip to Oregon; Broeckel kin conducts reunion

Tarri and Stetson Steiger drove to Seattle Friday evening to stay with Tarri’s daughter Geraldine. The three family members and Spencer Scholz drove to Wilsonville, Ore., to see Clare Steiger. They had lunch and visited with Clare at the home of her son, Alan and Sharon Steiger. They then went to Clare’s apartment and toured the retirement complex where she lives and her little flower garden. While there, Clare surprised Geraldine by presenting her with a quilt made by Emma Steiger Arnst out of fabric from clothing made by Clare’s late daughter, Jean.

A family reunion of the late Philip and Katherine Broeckel family was held over the weekend at the family farm and The Parsonage. Attending the reunion were eldest daughter Shirley and Frank Benham and grandchildren Riley and Tyler Tetzloff, Seattle; Scott and Mary Benham and Burke and Haylie, Snoqualmie; sons and grandchildren of the late Marlene Broeckel Dreger, Dean Dreger and Matthew and Jaycie and friend Johanna Reid and daughters Ava, Abby and Emma and Dale and Cindy Dreger and Codi and Sarah, all of Wilbur; hosts Dale and Vicki Broeckel and Kim Gustafson, Dusty; and Mike and Michelle Carver, Spokane. Tim Johnson, Dusty, joined them for Easter dinner Saturday.

Also on Saturday, cousins Lorraine Scaggs and Jeanette Nolan, Colfax, and Karen Broeckel, Dusty, stopped in for a visit.

LaCrosse Farm Club met Wednesday, April 20, at the Selbu Lutheran Church. Hostesses were Judy Aune, Brenda Camp and Carol Kyllo. Wanda Alderman presented a program on Pysanky, a Ukrainian egg decorating style.

Fran Jones recently returned from her winter home in Mesa, Ariz. Granddaughter Emelie Pearl Jones met her at the airport. Emelie had been spending time at the ranch before returning to her home in Hamilton, Mont., last Friday where she teaches at a local school. Warren Jones, Post Falls, spent the weekend with his mother.

Carol Kyllo hosted an early Easter dinner in her home Saturday for family members Tim and Penny Kyllo and Wayne, Naples; Tami, Lauren, Lexi, and Logan Haas, Spokane, and Steve and Paula Laurens, Endicott.

Larry and Di Brink were guests of Lucky, Joan and Rob Myrick for Easter dinner.

Amber Broeckel was home for Easter weekend. She and her parents, Ed and Joan Broeckel, were among the guests of Norm and Janice Pauls’ family for Easter dinner.

Norm and Gloria Erickson spent Easter weekend in Everett with Gloria’s sister, Goldie and Al Foss. Steve and Carol Moore and Kurt and Lauren spent Easter Sunday at Hayden Lake with Carol’s parents, Vern and Arlene Stambaugh, and her sister Karen and Nat Roetter and their three girls and their families.

Kim and Cindy Pitts were in Boise from Friday through Monday with Kellen, Becket and Willa Hammons and their parents, Jen and Ryan.

Jill Reddig’s mother, Jan Bashen of North Carolina, paid a one day visit last Tuesday to the Reddig home. She has been in the Pacific Northwest to visit her children.

Guests of Art and Colene Sager for Easter dinner were Blake and Marcy Sager and Jullene and Kenneth.

David and Phyllis Stueckle joined Ann and Jim Emerson for Easter dinner at the Emerson home.

Dick and Helen Appel hosted a family dinner Easter Sunday. Those attending were Phil Appel, Spokane; Jessica Stavig, Moscow; Eric, Shannon, Connor, Christopher, Sarah, Kyle and Sidney Appel, Dusty; Caroline and Rob, Zack, Kade, Elly and Lucien Kunkel, Pullman; Neil, Joshua, Noemi and Isaac Appel, Dusty; and Lisa, Travis, Miriam, Rachel and Emma Frei, Colfax. The day was spent visiting and the young ones went for a hike along the creek.
