Studded tires get another week

Washington State Department of Transportation has extended the deadline for removal of studded tires for another week until April 14. The original deadline of March 31 had been extended to April 7 last week.

Officials said continued winter conditions in the mountains and parts of eastern Washington prompted the second extension. Removal of studded tires is required to minimize damage to road surfaces. Drivers caught driving with studded tires after April 14 will be ticketed.
