Cougar solution?

After thinking about the deer problem in Colfax I have come up with the “perfect” solution. You need cougars!

Most of the biologists working for the WDFW (formerly the Department of Fish and Game) are a bunch of predator lovers. From the local level all the way up to the top in Olympia, WDFW strives to protect and propagate predators. I’m sure they would be happy to “relocate” a half dozen or so cougars into Colfax. They could use the local humane society as a staging area.

The cougars would not only kill off the deer “naturally” they would also take out those nuisance dogs and cats that are allowed to roam around unleashed. The cougar would also disperse skate boarding youth and other loitering individuals.

Then when the cougar had depleted the food supply in town they would move out to the surrounding farms and clean out the livestock and get them back to producing wheat, peas and lentils.

What better place to have cougars than in WSU cougar country!

Now I know that not everyone will think this is a “perfect” solution to the deer problem in Colfax but at least there won’t be any wounded deer wandering into the emergency entrance of the Colfax Hospital with wounds from poorly placed shots.

Good deal

I have been in many Grange Halls around the county and state and the Palouse Grange Hall is a very nice building. The Palouse Arts Council has been using the building for eight years rent free and has been renting out the building and keeping the rent to help pay for the building upkeep. Sounds like the Palouse Arts Council has been getting a very good deal.

Colfax
