ITEM–The Iraqi defector, whose claims that Saddam Hussein was hiding weapons of mass destruction was part of the Bush administration’s justification for the 2003 invasion of Iraq, has admitted for the first time that he fabricated the story. Rafid Ahmed Aiwan ai-Janabi, known as Curveball to the intelligence units of several nations, told the British newspaper The Guardian that he fabricated the story to topple the Hussein regime. It was okay to lie, he said, because that was the only way to get rid of Saddam.
