School survey forms due on website today

Colfax Supt. Michael Morgan told school board members Monday night the district’s survey forms will be posted on the district’s web site today. The district has prepared four different surveys for district residents to consider over a “three-week” window.

The district has opted for a web site process to avoid the time and expense which would be involved to enter data off a paper survey into a computer format. A printed version of the survey will be made available at school offices.

Supt. Morgan Monday night advised board members on alterations which were made to the surveys after suggests were made by district staff members.

Separate survey forms with different questions have been prepared for students, staff members, families with students enrolled in the district and other residents in the district.

Morgan told the board Monday the district plans to limit the survey of students to eight and 10th graders. That would allow the district to survey the same group of students next year and possible gauge results of any changes which were installed after this year’s survey process.

He said students will probably be asked to enter their responses during a session of an English class.

Board member Kathy Wride suggested the district ensure that the persons conducting the student sessions stress the importance of the surveys.

Results of the survey will be reported to the board at the Feb. 21 meeting.

Board members Monday discussed scheduling a work session after the conclusion so the survey results could be among topics considered on the agenda.
