Regional lentil convention on Dec. 8

Western Pea & Lentil Growers Association’s 45th annual convention will be Dec. 8 at the Best Western-University Inn in Moscow. Cost for the meeting and luncheon is $25.

Check-in for the day-long meeting starts at 7:45 a.m. followed by updates from the marketing and research departments as well as information on key issues facing the pulse industry.

Luncheon keynote speaker will be Deepa Shenoy of Pul Foods who will talk about work she has done on products containing pulse crops, including breakfast cereals. Also, the Lentil Family of the Year award will be presented.

The afternoon will begin with pesticide credit sessions from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. with two credits available. Presentations include: virus diseases, identification of weed species, aphanomyces resistance in lentils, updates on Reflex and Lorox.

At 3:30, a researcher’s poster session and exhibitor exchange in conjunction with a hosted reception will open and attendees can visit with experts in crop protection, variety development and other related areas.

A $5 late fee applies to any registrations received after Dec. 1. Membership in the WPLGA is not required to attend the convention. WPLGA is a member of the USA Dry Pea & Lentil Council.
